Linda's Flat Stanley Visited Ohio and the Dominican Republic!

Here is Stanley!  He traveled to be with Rich and Laura in Ohio!  As luck would have it, they were headed out on vacation to the Dominican Republic and he could go along!

Stanley traveled in the mail to Canton, Ohio!

Here is Stanley in Canton, Ohio at Rich and Laura’s house.

We had lots of fun. Canton is famous for being the home of the football hall of fame. Stanley didn’t stay in Canton very long because we were all going on vacation!

We went to city of Cleveland to spend the night because we were going to get up very early the next day to fly to the Dominican Republic.

We stopped for dinner at a famous restaurant called “Melt” that servers nothing but different kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches . It’s been on TV a bunch of times and is very good.

The menu was neat and the sandwich was really big. Stanley ate the whole thing!

We spent the night in a hotel at the airport so we could make sure we were up really early and wouldn’t miss our flight. Stanley liked the bed because it was very fluffy and comfortable.

We went to the airport at 4 in the morning. It was really early but everyone was excited.

We flew on the plane for a long time. We traveled over 1600 miles through the air.

Stanley liked the airplane. He read all the safety information to make sure we were safe.

Stanley liked looking out the window at beautiful ocean and island.

We landed in the city of Puerto Plata where we went to our resort and had all kinds of fun!

We played on the beach and in the ocean.

We relaxed in the sun.

We crawled around in the jungle and looked at all the plants.

We ate lots of good food at all different kinds of places.

We visited fort San Felipe. It was built all the way back in 1540.

Stanley thought the great big old cannons at the fort were really neat.

We rode a cable car up over 2600 feet to the top of the Isabel de Torres mountain. It was really high up and you could see the whole city all the way to the ocean.

It  was very beautiful up there.

This is a statue of General Juan Pablo Duarte. He is one of the founding fathers of the city of Puerto Plata.

He was born almost 200 years ago
(see Stanley in the left photo)

Here Stanley is checking out a picture of General Duarte.

We went to the Amber museum. Amber is tree sap that got trapped underground during the time of the dinosaurs and it turned into stone.  You can see things like bugs and leaves that were trapped in the sap before it turned to stone. It’s very pretty.

One day we after playing at the beach we came back to our room to find that the house keeper had folded our towel into the shape of a swan. Stanley thought it was very cool.

Finally after all kinds of fun, we had to go the airport and head home.

Stanley did find a little friend to come home with him. This little guy is carved out of petrified wood. That is wood that is so old that it has turned into stone. Stanley though you might like him.

Thank you very much for letting Stanley go on vacation with us. He was lots of fun to have a long.
