Juana's Flat Stanley Has Lots of Adventures

Hello Juana,

This is Flat Stanley coming to you from Stantonsburg, NC where I am visiting for a couple of days.  Today is Thursday, March 21, 2013 and I want to bring you up to date on my travels.

My friend Evelyn Harrell has been taking me on some adventures.  I arrived in Winston-Salem and was removed from my envelope on Thursday, March 14th.  Early Friday morning, we began our first adventure.  We started on our way to Holden Beach.

Below is a picture of me riding on Evelyn’s phone holder.  I had a great view of our drive down Highway 220.  We passed several other interesting places
  • The exit to the North Carolina Zoo
  • The exit to Victory Junction Gang Camp (it’s a special camp for kids with health care issues).
  • The exit to Seagrove where they make all kinds of pottery.
Lot’s of neat places to visit some day.

Once we reached Holden Beach, we had a lot of fun with Evelyn’s cousins.  We ate a lot, played games, looked at old pictures, and just rested and relaxed.  We played two fun games; Rummikub and Triominos.

In this picture, I am sitting on Evelyn’s tiles for the Rummikub game.  As you can see by her tiles, she didn’t win that game.  However, it sure was fun to play.

We also watched the basketball playoffs, here’s a picture of me watching the Carolina game.  Sorry about the window glare, the sun was shining so pretty but the wind was very cold.

Wow, after all of that I was pretty tired. I was so happy that there was a nice comfy bed to take a nap on.

On Sunday we woke up to a beautiful day.  It was time to make breakfast, go to church, and head for home.  Cousin Toni walked on the beach and found these cool shells.  The smaller one is called a baby’s ear and the larger one is called a sea biscuit.

After we cleaned the house and before we left for home, we gathered to take a group picture.  Here I am with all these beautiful ladies, well at least beautiful personalities.  And of course, the weather was beautiful on the day we had to head back to Winston-Salem.

One last picture before we leave to travel back to Winston-Salem.  I am tired.  I think I will take a nap on the way back.

It’s Monday already!  Off to work we go.  Evelyn works at BB&T University.  See learning does not stop once you are out of school.  The University teaches BB&T associates how to be prepared for their jobs.  In this picture, I am helping her look at a floor plan of a training lab that they may build.  What is a floor plan?  It’s a way to put your thoughts on paper as well.  You can design how a room will look before you build the room.

In the next picture, I am just hanging out and watching the team.

She even has a car that is just right for me, check this out.  Well, maybe it is a little small.

We worked in Winston-Salem on Monday and Tuesday and then headed to Stantonsburg to visit Evelyn’s daughter Lisa.  She’s a school teacher at Margaret Hearne Elementary School in Wilson.  We are helping her out for the rest of the week.  She is taking a class in Durham (see even teachers continue to learn and take classes).  Evelyn’s here to help get her kids to school each day because she has to leave really early each day to be there in time for class.  So we wait in the car at the end of the driveway with Benjamin so that he can catch the bus and then take William to Wee School. He starts to Kindergarten next year.  After both boys get off to school, we sit at Lisa’s kitchen table and work all day.

I’ll send a picture of Benjamin, William and me in my next note.

See you later!
